THE ARMISTICE WALK

Including a Wilfred Owen Heritage Trail

WHEN: Tuesday, 11th NOVEMBER  2014 at 10.55am
STARTS: from Cae Glas War Memorial

(Walk starts with a two minute silence at 11am and will begin afterwards)

WALK SUMMARY

The walk will be around the town centre covering aspects of the town’s history and heritage through the lens of Wilfred Owen, his family and Oswestry’s role in WW1.

HOW LONG?

Around 2 hours at a steady pace.

HOW HARD IS THE WALK?

Mostly on the flat.

RAMBLE THRU’ THE RAMPARTS

AT Old Oswestry Hillfort!

WHEN: Tuesday, 12th AUGUST  2014 at 11am
STARTS: from Gatacre Avenue Sports Pavilion (SY11 1DR)

WHAT KIND OF WALK?

The walk will go out of town, across fields, uphill a bit and you will be rewarded with magnificent views

Not arduous but you will need to able to walk uphill for a hundred yards.

HOW LONG?

2 hours at a steady, but not fast walk, this is not a route march. :)

BEGINNERS’ GUIDE TO GEO-CACHING

Learn the secrets of geo-caching in Cae Glas Park!

WHEN:Tuesday, 22nd April 2014 at 11am

WHAT IS GEOCACHING?: Basically it is a high tech treasure hunt.

Instead of a paper map to follow you use a hand held GPS (globel positioning system) unit to find locations.

WHERE: Meet at the bandstand, Cae Glas Park, Oswestry.

The session will be solely in the park

COST: £3 per adult, children under 16 free.

A cash deposit of £20 will be payable on the day for the handset.

It will be returned at the end of the session in return for the handset.

NOTE: No unaccompanied children.

At the end of the session you should feel confident enough to continue geocaching on your smartphone.

STROLL THROUGH THE SNOWDROPS

Come and find (probably) the best display of snowdrops in the Oswestry area

Starting from Oswestry Railway Station

WALK SUMMARY
The walk will go out of town, across fields, over stiles, uphill a bit and over a stream, so you will need appropriate footwear.

HOW LONG?
2 hours at a steady, but not fast walk, this is not a route march.

HOW HARD IS THE WALK?
You will need to be able to get over stiles and
walk uphill for a hundred yards.

HOW DO I BOOK?
